S.W.A.P. - STUDENTS WITH AMAZING POTENTIAL
A FREE SATURDAY PROGRAM FOR SBISD MIDDLE SCHOOLERS
Iconoclast Artists’ S.W.A.P. program gives Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) middle school students a Saturday space to discover their creativity, strengthen their skills, build meaningful relationships, and develop the confidence and resilience to succeed.
CREATIVE WRITING: Students explore poetry and creative writing as a way to improve literacy, express themselves, and find their voices. Activities strengthen communication, confidence, and critical thinking.
THE ARTS: Through fine arts activities, students have opportunities for self-expression, creativity, and exploration. They discover new ways to communicate their ideas, talents, and perspectives.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT: Physical activities such as dance and yoga encourage movement, discipline, physical well-being, and mindfulness.
MENTORSHIP: Small-group conversations with caring mentors give students a chance to talk, listen, ask questions, and build skills for navigating school, relationships, and life.
EXPLORE BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: Field trips throughout the year introduce students to new places, experiences, and possibilities—past and upcoming trips include college campus tours, museum visits, and fun local outings like roller skating.
BUILDING SKILLS FOR LIFE: Every part of S.W.A.P. is designed to help students develop the core competencies they need to thrive: Confidence · Resilience · Self-awareness · Communication · Critical Thinking · Empathy · Emotional Regulation · Respectful Collaboration · Healthy Relationships
